The Bement School made its second annual visit to Imago Dei from Massachusetts at the end of September. Our combined 8th-grade classes made unforgettable visits to the UA campus, Buenos Aires Wildlife Preserve, Kitt Peak, and Nogales, Sonora. In the spring, our kids will again visit their new friends from the Northeast.

Seventy Imago Dei scholars and more than a dozen staff spent four days at the end of August in the cool pines of Prescott, where they had fun, developed teamwork, and kicked off the school year right.

Eighth Grade Commencement 2018 took place on Friday, May 18, in the courtyard at Tucson Museum of Art downtown. Twenty grads and their families joined us at the school for Baccalaureate service and dinner on Thursday, May 17. Special thanks to the parishioners of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, who once again decorated, underwrote dinner, and baked many many dozens of delicious cookies. It was a wonderful evening.

Thanks to Dolphins of the Desert Swimming Academy, S.W.I.M Tucson, USA Swimming Foundation, and the mighty Arizona Swimming and Diving, Imago Dei kids enjoyed an inspiring morning at the beautiful Oro Valley Acquatic Center on Saturday, April 21, receiving individualized swim instruction and having a great time. With their teacher, Kateri Raglow, our seventh- and eighth-graders have been extracting strawberry DNA and cleaning up simulated oil-spills. Doing is the best way to learn science.

The school year kicks off with our annual all-school sleep-away camp, August 28-31, in the cool woods at Prescott. A million thanks to the Stonewall Foundation and other generous supporters who make this incredible experience for our urban kids an Imago Dei tradition.
