A Typical Day at Imago Dei Middle School, now located at the SW corner of 4th Street and North 6th Avenue in the West University District

At Imago Dei, the morning silence is broken by the clattering of pans.  7:30am:  the new day begins with breakfast.  Students and staff break bread together, then we pray and sing to focus our minds and spirits.  Our first teacher is our own heart.

Morning classes:  writing, spelling and English.  Mathematics.  Guided and silent reading.  Each individual receives the support and instruction necessary to meet the challenges of learning.

At noon, another meal together.  Laughter.  Fun.  Friendship. A smiling face nourishes the heart.  In the afternoon, we turn to social studies.  Science.  Health lessons.  Games and physical activities in neighborhood parks.

Twice a week, religion class:  the world’s many faiths, the student’s personal faith.

Our day ends at 5:30pm with a return to silence through evening worship.  Reflection and thanksgiving.

Life is a promise that we make to each other.
